Interlaken
Interlaken is a Swiss town and municipality in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district in the canton of Bern. It is an important and well-known tourist destination in the Bernese Highlands region of the Swiss Alps, and the main transport gateway to the mountains and lakes of that region. The town is located on the flat alluvial land called Bödeli between two lakes, Brienz to the east and Thun to the west, and alongside the river Aare, which flows between them. Transport routes to the east and west alongside the lakes are complemented by a route southwards into the near mountain resorts and high mountains, e.g. the famous high Alpine peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, following upwards the Lütschine.
Iseltwald
Iseltwald is a village and municipality on the southern shore of Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. Politically, the municipality is located in the Interlaken-Oberhasli administrative district of the canton of Bern.
Berne
No city other than Bern, the capital of Switzerland, can claim to have preserved its historic character so well. The old town of Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts 6 kilometers of arbor arches, one of the longest covered shopping walks in Europe. The medieval atmosphere of the city with numerous fountains, sandstone facades, alleys and historic towers is exemplary. The prettiest view of the old town surrounded by the Aare is from the rose garden perched above the BärenPark (bear park) or from the platform of the 101-meter tower of the cathedral. The old ramparts and bastions descend steeply to the river. The shops, bars and theaters of the old town, partly housed in vaulted cellars, as well as the terraces of small cafes attract both Bernese and tourists. While the public transport system is good, it is still best to explore Bern city center on foot.
