FROM PHILIPPINES WITH LOVE
A visit to the Basilica of Saint Therese in Lisieux with a special mass celebration for the 12th year anniversary of the mosaic offered by the Philippines to the basilica.
It was through the idea of then PH Ambassador to Paris Jose Zaide to offer «something» to Saint Therese of the Child Jesus.
The 3 by 5 « Philippine People Power » mosaic was created by national artist Manuel Baldemor and hangs in the west side of the basilica. The image of the Blessed Virgin Mary in a white robe is the main character in this artwork. St. Therese is on the right side, holding a picture and crucifix.
The mosaic project was also made possible through the donations and contributions of Filipinos in France.
The artwork was unveiled and inaugurated on October 18, 2009.
The bus will depart from Place du Trocadero at 7am and we will arrive at the basilica just in time for the special mass celebration.
Before leaving the basilica, you will have a brief moment to look and admire the artwork.
We will continue our journey in Rouen, Normandy’s historic capital. Rouen has more than 50 religious buildings and most of the churches are of Gothic architecture. The Cathedral Notre Dame de Rouen is the ideal example. It is located in the heart of the old town.
Do not forget to check the stunning Gros horloge clock tower and take a lovely stroll through the picturesque old neighbourhoods on cobbled streets lined with historic half-timbered houses.
You can also take the “petit train” to wander around this City of Art and History.
And for lunch, you have nothing to worry about where to eat because Rouen is brimming with incredible restaurants. Also, be mindful of the fact that Rouen’s specialties are cider and cheese. Take a gourmet break or bring some before returning to Paris.
Around 6pm, we’ll be at Place du Trocadero.
